		<description>A pleasant enough book but it lacks the emotion of the James Herriot books, which I think it is trying to emulate. Plot and subplot outcomes are predictable with little dramatic suspense. There is a glossary of Irish words, but most of the ones I tried to look up were not included. After 400 or so pages there is nothing to make you ask for more.
Since it takes place in the 1960s, It does provide, however, an interesting comparison to the Ireland of the 1930s-1940s of Angela&#039;s Ashes. Completely different countries, but then one is fiction and one is real.</description>
